There was a time not many years ago (2009 to be precise) when it seemed print would disappear from my business entirely, where previously it had dominated. Despite the multi-media options available, I have seen a real upsurge again in requests for print, particularly this year. Digital serves many things, but it does not offer the same satisfaction as a solid paper object with a nice hand and striking design.
Here is the most recent, and largest, print project for Visual Creative: a 224 page, full-colour book of essays and boat plans by an internationally recognized naval architect and wooden boat builder. We designed, laid out, and shepherded this book through the whole publishing process, as well as marketing and set-up for sale and shipping. Thanks to Friesens for the beautiful print and bindery, and to Paul Gartside Ltd. for the fantastic project. We designed and built Paul's website and online store a few years ago, where he sells stock boat plans of his own design. With a solid international reputation and this marketing platform already in place, he was able to successfully self-publish a gorgeous, professional book with our support.
